Flavorful explosions from the Loire. The Mellots have lived on the banks of the Loire for over 500 years. They have spent most of that time growing wine in Sancerre. One of their ancestors was even cupbearer to the Sun King Louis XIV. The current winery grew out of the Auberge Joseph Mellot, a popular restaurant in the heart of Sancerre for over 100 years, which placed particular value on excellent house wine and therefore made it itself. Joseph Mellot is now the only house to own vineyards in all appellations of the wine-growing region. The grapes that Mellot processes are of correspondingly high quality. Hand-picked grapes are used to make exemplary Sancerre and Pouilly Fume wines, which stand out due to their excellent price/quality ratio.
