Enjoy in a cozy group: The Masi Costasera Amarone della Valpolicella is a very impressive red wine. It is complex, impressive, proud and regally elegant. A top Italian wine that has a lot of depth and structure at the same time. The taste is fruity with diverse hints of fine spices. It is also very well balanced and has a high aging potential. Even top-class star tasters like James Suckling rave about it: "This opens beautifully to reveal violets, blueberries, licorice, citrus, oyster shell and orange rind. So velvety and polished, but with real depth and structure. Medium-to full-bodied with delightful fruit and a long finish. Drink in 2021 but already so satisfying." The bouquet of this dark red sparkling Italian wine smells of plums, blueberries, cherries, violets, licorice, coffee and orange rind. All of these aromas are underlined by velvety tannins. The Costasera is very harmonious and has a high aging potential. The Masi winery sets the bar very high for other Amarones with this wine. The reason for this is the great skill of the Masi team itself. The cellar masters carried out the appassimento process with the utmost care. This is necessary for a great Amarone and requires a lot of experience. The technique involves placing the grapes of the Corvina, Molinara and Rondinella varieties on shelves to dry after harvest. This serves to concentrate the berry ingredients and gives the dry wine a correspondingly strong intensity. This quiet giant from Masi is therefore rightly in a league with the great wines of Italy such as Brunello, Barolo or Bolgheri.
